Better Late Than Never

November 30th, 2010 | by Zach Thomack

Sorry I skipped an update this past Thursday, but no need to worry you won’t miss a comic. I’ve posted the comic strip intended for last Thursday, today. I realize Thanksgiving is over but I felt this comic strip is too awesome for me to keep it to myself. Now that I have my new Canon scanner, which I love, updates should be back on schedule no more hangups (knock on wood).

Happy Thanksgiving

November 25th, 2010 | by Zach Thomack

First of all I want to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. Secondly I need to apologize for not updating today’s comic on time. This is why everyone one has been telling me my whole life to quit procrastinating. My scanner which has been giving me trouble lately, decided to quit working again last night just as I tried scanning in the new comic. So needless to say I don’t have the update ready to go yet. I’m hoping to get a visit from the scanner fixing fairy tonight as I sleep and wake up to a working scanner. I will do everything that I can in order to get the new comic strip posted today, unless that requires going to the store to buy a new scanner. I don’t believe in giving company’s any reason to make people work on major holiday’s. Be sure to check back later to see if the new comic strip has been posted. I’m sorry if I just ruined your day and turned your Thanksgiving into a Thanksfornothing. Please save me some cranberry sauce. Thanks.

On another note. I would like to thank all of you turkey’s out there who will sacrifice everything so that we may feast on your juicy carcases. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Pumpkin Contest Winner

First off I’m happy to hear all of the positive feedback regarding the Halloween Week Special. I’m truly flattered and I hope everyone had an awesome Halloween.

A good friend of mine took it upon himself to carve the worlds coolest and worlds first Pepe pumpkin. Officially making him the official winner of the unofficial Polar Opposites Pumpkin Carving Contest. (Unofficial because there was never truly a competition.) I just couldn’t keep it to myself. I must share it with the world so I’ve posted pictures of his fine craftsmanship below. Be sure to leave him some comments of admiration and congratulations on winning first prize!

Thanks John. You Rock!

Slow and Steady

Well that does it for the very first Polar Opposites Halloween Week Special. I hope everyone thoroughly enjoyed this week of comics. I realize that these comics were terribly horrifying and so I like to apologize for any disturbing nightmares they may have caused you.
You can rest peacefully tonight, knowing that you survived the week of relentlessly horrific images and that next week Polar Opposites will be returning to normal. Normal may not be the proper word to use however because starting next week Polar Opposites will begin updating on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I apologize to all of you that can’t get enough of the comic and want more of it rather than less. I just can’t logically convince myself that it is worth the amount of time that I am putting into it for the lack of return. I’m not trying to be lazy about it. I just don’t have the amount of readers right now that I need to make money. I wish I had no finical concerns to worry about and I could create this comic strip just as a hobby, but the bills have got to get paid. So for right now my solution to the slow growth of the website is to just invest slightly less time into it. No worries the quality will not change and uncontrollable fits of laughter will continue on just one day less a week.

Open The Door And Where’re All The People?

October 22nd, 2010 | by Zach Thomack
Posted In: Blog

First off I just want to say Happy Birthday to my mom, yesterday was her birthday.
Well I’ve been working hard lately to bring more readers to the webcomic. Most of my time has been spent submitting the site to as many directories as I can find and the rest of the time is spent pulling my hair out trying to unlock the secrets of search engine optimization. My efforts seem to be paying off slightly as I have seen a decent increase in traffic to the site, but I am still no where near the number of readers I need to pursue this full time. I would love to see this webcomic grow into something great with thousands of readers and in order to keep Polar Opposites growing I’m going to need your help. Tell everyone you know to check out the site. Bribe them with truck loads of money if you have to. (I would recommend starting with smaller amounts and working your way up to truck loads, but it’s your call.)

Thank you to everyone out there who already reads and supports this webcomic I truly appreciate it. As long as I can afford to keep the site going I will do my best to do so.

If there are any other webcomic creators out there who might be reading this and have some advice to help me out I would love to hear from you. Just click the email tab right below the comic strip and send me an email or leave a comment.

Random Advice: Sprinkling Pixy Stix on your head will not make you fly.

Comments Get Your Comments

It may have taken just slightly longer than I had planned, but your wait is finally over! Introducing, for the first time on this webcomic, the ability to now post your priceless comments on every comic strip. No longer are you limited by the shackles of my poor coding skills. Be free the way nature intended for you to be. Seriously your comments are valued and I love to hearing from you even if you don’t have a lot to say. Try it out on today’s comic by simply clicking the “comment on this comic” link just underneath the new strip. (A special thanks to Dirty Dan for helping me get this working.)

Warning: Commenting can become extremely addicting and Polar Opposites is not responsible for any bleeding, blistering, or soreness of the fingers. Other side effects include lack of sleep and uncontrollable shouting.

New Favorite Quote: “Don’t be stupid, it’s not smart.” – Not sure who said it first but I heard it from Ty Pennington.

Trick or Treat

October 11th, 2010 | by Zach Thomack

Just a quick blog entry today to let everyone know that I am planning on doing a Halloween Week Special! I know right, life just got a little bit closer to perfect. So get your taste buds salivating because you are in for a sweet treat. Seeing as Halloween actually falls on a Sunday this year, I will be posting new Halloween themed comic strips on the Monday, Wednesday, and Friday before Halloween. They are in the works right now, two are already sketched out and I should have the other drawn by the time most of you read this. If I may say so myself they are really quite spooktacular and I’m sure everyone will enjoy them. That is after you’ve finished flushing the terror from your eyes. So get ready to shriek with fear and sleep with the lights on cause after you view Polar Opposites Halloween Week Special you’ll probably end up watching one of the many scary movies that will be on TV that week.

Progressing Towards Progression

October 6th, 2010 | by Zach Thomack

Couple updates for everyone out there in wonderland. I wish I could visit wonderland (without the use of any illegal substances) and meet the Mad Hatter and that crazy rabbit who likes randomly throwing items at bystanders heads. Of course this has nothing to do with anything.

I know I said in the past that I would hopefully have sketches for my t-shirt designs posted by now so without further ado I have posted below the two finished t-shirts designs for your viewing pleasure.

I know these shirts are incredibly awesome and you can’t wait to get your hands on one, or both so that you may parade around in them, inevitably inducing everyone around you into a coma of envy. Well your wait should be short for I believe I have found my gateway to clothing America. I will most likely be selling the shirts through a site called Zazzle.com. That is after I order a couple test shirts of my own from them to make sure their quality meets my unattainably high standards.

On another note for any of you who possibly have been following from the very beginning. I may have mentioned something in the past about adding a commenting section on the site allowing you to post a comment on any particular comic strip that you may have found enjoyable or maybe one that brought tears to your eyes (don’t worry we won’t laugh…too much). Well your chance to tell the world your opinion about how a certain comic strip changed your life is nearly within reach. In fact I plan to have it working by the beginning of next week.

Random advice:
If you wake in mornings with pounding headaches. Try sleeping with a helmet on.

What’s In Store?

September 29th, 2010 | by Zach Thomack
Posted In: Blog

Well I have recently decided to throw myself out into the middle of the lake in the hopes that I can swim or at least breathe under water. I am planning on opening an online store for Polar Opposites. Now before any of you get your hopes up to high, I must be honest with you. As of now the store is nothing more than an idea floating around in my somewhat hollow head and a couple of scribbled T-shirt designs. I’m not really all that sure where I even begin but then again a few months ago I wasn’t even sure I could design my own website. Anyway once I get it all figured out I am planning to offer a couple different T-shirts (sorry no speedos for now). I don’t have nearly enough readers to really support a store yet so this is more of an experiment for me than anything else and a good opportunity for any of you die hard fans to get your hands on some merch (it’s short for merchandise just makes me sound cool when I type). Consider this an early step in my efforts to clothe the world. It may still be a little while tell the store becomes a reality but I should have some sketches of the T-shirt designs posted hopefully by the end of the week.

I want to say thank you to everyone for all the well wishes and prayers for my Dad. It truly means a lot to me and to him so thanks.
